One-time key
This messageHow the dictionary & key work
Explainer1. The AI writes a one-time dictionary. For each message the AI generates a set of ordinary, native-language phrases — a throwaway codebook that exists only for this one message. Nothing in it looks secret; it reads like normal chatter about everyday things.
2. The key binds the dictionary. A random one-time key is generated and tied to this exact dictionary (by its SHA-256 fingerprint). The same dictionary + key can read the message back; anything else produces nothing. The key is never reused.
3. Encode. Your real message is turned into bytes, and each byte is swapped for its phrase from the dictionary — so the message rides inside what looks like an ordinary conversation. (In short-message mode the AI instead writes a single cover text, and your message is sealed with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from that cover — same idea, one line instead of many.)
4. The server stays blind. The relay holds only the dictionary/cover and the one-time key — never your real message. It is released only to someone who already has the exact text, so the server alone can never read a thing.
Sensitive text in.
Ordinary chatter out.
Type the real message. AI turns it into an everyday text with a one-time key. Send that anywhere; the other person pastes it here and reads the original.
Nothing for an observer to find
An ordinary text every time
AI writes a fresh, everyday message for each send. Nothing in the chat looks encrypted or repeats.
A one-time key per message
Locked on your device. The server holds the key but not the text it needs, so it can't read anything alone.
Only message holders can open it
No ID travels with the text. The key is released only to someone who pastes the exact cover.
One short text. Each send is a single ordinary message; the real message is locked with a one-time key and unlocked by whoever pastes that exact text.
Translation is optional. When it is on, the AI reads your message to translate it. Leave it off and only the cover is written by AI.
About this build. Built with the Defense Innovation Unit's Communication Masking problem in mind. Your real message is encrypted in your browser; it reaches the server only if you turn on translation.
